Suhozid jar

75,00 €
| /

A suhozid is a stone wall built without mortar, stone upon stone, and these walls criss-cross the whole of Hvar. This jar carries that pattern: across the cream body I have carved irregular stone shapes that fit into one another, and the flat lid is glazed turquoise and carved with wavy lines, like the sea beyond the wall; the inside is turquoise too. Keep herbs, sugar or sea salt in it. Its partner is the Gustirna jar.

I make it from sturdy stoneware on the potter's wheel and decorate it by hand in the sgraffito technique. Finally I glaze it with an opaque, food-safe glaze.

  • Height: approx. 10 cm without lid / 11 cm with lid
  • Width: approx. 10 cm
  • Care: dishwasher safe, though I still recommend washing it by hand
  • One of a kind: because of the hand carving, every jar is unique
