Deep Blue oil bottle

Deep Blue is the open sea far from the shore, calm and dark. The lower third of the bottle is cobalt blue, and through it I have carved dozens of fine, closely spaced horizontal lines that ripple gently, like the sea out on the open water. Where Waves is bright turquoise and playful, Deep Blue is calm and clean-lined, and it sits beautifully in a simple, modern kitchen. Fill it with olive oil, or pair it with the Deep Blue bowl for a matching table.

I first make the bottle from stoneware on the potter's wheel, then carve every line by hand in the sgraffito technique. The clear glaze over the motif is food-safe.
