Rosemary plate

Rosemary grows wild on the dry Mediterranean hillsides, and on Hvar it is part of every summer walk. Half of this plate is covered in a warm ochre-olive colour with a softly wavy edge, and through it I have carved large sprigs of rosemary that stay pale and cream, like branches laid on the table. The other half stays clean and light. Use it for everyday meals or for serving, and the Rosemary oil bottle goes with it.

I make the plate from stoneware on the potter's wheel and carve the sprigs in the sgraffito technique, through a layer of coloured clay. The clear glaze, fired at a high temperature, is food-safe, so the plate is ready for every day and for special occasions alike.
