Rosemary oil bottle

Wild rosemary covers the stony hillsides of Hvar, and in the summer heat you can smell it everywhere. The lower half of this bottle is coloured in a warm olive tone, and through it I have carved sprigs of rosemary so that the needles, pale and cream, stand out against the colour; the upper part stays simple and light. Fill it with olive oil for roast potatoes, fish or fresh bread. The Rosemary plate goes with it, so together they make a set.

I shape the bottle from stoneware on the potter's wheel, then carve the sprigs in the sgraffito technique, through the coloured layer. I glaze it with a clear glaze that is safe for food and everyday use.
